Franchise fairs and conventions have become one of the epicentres of the entire global franchise sector.

Their importance grows year on year, and the topics covered at these events evolve to meet real needs and adapt to a market that is constantly changing and evolving.

At Ouxion, with our in-depth understanding of the behaviour and significance of the franchise sector, we wanted to produce a guide covering everything from this year’s most important international events to their strategic importance.

The importance of in-person trade fairs in the digital age.

Of course, the digital age is no longer a matter for the future but a very real part of the present. Yet amidst this digitalisation and automation, in-person interaction and personal connection are taking on new strength and significance.

Human contact is viewed very positively when interacting with a corporate team, as it conveys a business’s culture and know-how in a personal way.

Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for high-quality networking with executives and financial institutions all in one place, with just a few hours’ time difference, offering the immediacy that is so essential today.

The United States remains the world’s leading centre for the franchise sector, which is why its events are so important. From its extensive list, we would highlight two trade fairs that we consider essential:

International Franchise Expo (IFE), New York: Franchise4U

The European market is exceptionally strong in areas such as specialised services and sustainability. Amongst a wide range of events, the following are unmissable:

Franchise Expo Paris Expofranquicia, Madrid The Franchise Show, London

One of the markets with the greatest potential for growth and steady progress, highly attractive to a wide range of sectors and key to the expansion of franchises.

FANYF, Bogotá ABF Franchising Expo, São Paulo

Micro-franchising is a concept that had already been discussed but which seems to be gaining much more momentum this year; it is a very interesting area of the franchising sector in which to invest, thanks to its low initial investment and good profitability. From premium ice-cream parlours to fast food outlets, these are the main drivers of this trend.

It is no secret that Artificial Intelligence is already a reality, and that it will play an increasingly prominent role in many aspects of our lives. Naturally, franchises are no exception, and we see it being used in everything from analytics systems to last-mile logistics.

B2B services – led by cybersecurity and digital consultancy – the health sector, with high-tech boutique gyms, and services for the elderly are the areas set to see the most growth and prominence this year.

Don’t let the sheer volume of options – whether at trade fairs or from companies at a specific event – overwhelm you; do your research and carefully filter out what you want and, above all, what your business needs.

Schedule and book meetings – networking begins long before the event itself gets underway. And once those meetings take place, ask as many questions as you can without leaving anything out. Remember that understanding all the fees, licences, refurbishments, premises and every possible variable will ensure the success of your future business.

Franchise fairs and conventions have become one of the epicentres of the entire global franchise sector.
